Minor Development Fund


The Minor Development Fund was established by Softball BC to support initiatives that contribute to the growth of youth softball in the province. Click here for more details about the fund.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

Funding applications are reviewed three times per calendar year.  The "window" refers to the period during which the activity must be completed.

MDF Grant Application - New Association Grant (apply here)

The New Association Grant aims to support associations in their first year of operations. The grant can be used to offset operational costs such as field rentals, equipment and uniforms.

 

MDF Grant - Coaching Clinics (apply here)

The Coaching Clinic Grant aims to support associations offering coaching development clinics. The grant can be used to offset operational costs such as facility rentals, instructor fees and clinic-related materials.  Note: Applicants must consult with the Coaching Coordinator before submitting an application.  Failure to do so may result in your application being denied.

 

MDF Grant Application - Player Development Clinics (apply here)

The Player Development Clinic Grant aims to support associations offering a one-time player development clinic such as hitting, pitching or catching. The grant can be used to offset operational costs such as facility rentals, instructor fees and clinic-related materials.

 

MDF Grant Application - Community Building (apply here)

The Community Building Grant aims to support associations' community activities that introduce the sport of Softball to their local community, including schools, through special events or initiatives. The grant can be used to offset operational costs, such as facility & equipment rentals, as well as the costs incurred by event leaders.

 

MDF Grant Application - Disaster Relief Grant (apply here)

The Disaster Relief Grant aims to assist associations with equipment replacement purchases due to fire or theft.

 

REPORTING

To receive funding, grant recipients must submit a report (template to be provided at the time of approval) no later than 14 days after their event. The report consists of two parts:

  • Part A will summarize the outcome of your activities and should include data such as, but not limited to:
    • For coaching and player clinics: The number of participants who registered and the number who attended.
    • For new associations: A summary of how the funds were utilized to establish and grow your association.
    • For community building: A summary of how the funds were utilized to increase the awareness of our sport
    • For disaster relief: A list of the items purchased to replace the items not replaced by your insurance company. A copy of your insurance company's declining coverage is required.
  • Part B will consist of an itemized list of the expenses you incurred that these funds are offsetting, along with supporting documents.

Funds will be disbursed within 14 days after the Softball BC office receives your completed report.
