Peyton Greason (Langley), Isla Bothwell (New Westminster), and Olivia MacNeil (North Vancouver) were presented with the Kassandra Kaulius Memorial Scholarship on July 10th at an on-field ceremony during the 2025 Canada Cup.
This scholarship, created by Kassandra’s parents, Victor and Markita, serves as a legacy to Kassandra who was tragically killed by an impaired driver on May 3, 2011, while driving home after playing a softball game at Cloverdale Athletic Park. Kassandra was a starting pitcher for the Surrey Storm Senior Ladies Team, an assistant coach for the Surrey Storm 97 A Girls Team, and a student at the University of the Fraser Valley, where she was studying to become a teacher at the time of her death. To honor Kassandra’s dream of becoming a teacher, the Kaulius family established a scholarship fund in her name. Kassandra’s legacy is to give back to others through education.
Peyton Greason plays for the Langley Xtreme Rep B Team and also serves as an umpire when not playing softball. Additionally, she participates in school and club volleyball. Peyton is known for her willingness to learn new tasks with enthusiasm, her consistently positive attitude, and her exceptional work ethic. She is very supportive of her teammates. Peyton aspires to become a psychologist and will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta.
Isla Bothwell competes for the New Westminster Softball Association as a pitcher. She has a reputation for being “polite yet saucy.” Isla is known for her attention to detail, organization, and preparedness for games. Her commitment to both her studies and extracurricular activities demonstrates her awareness and passion for everything she undertakes. Isla’s dedication and kindness reflect her well-rounded character. She is excited to complete a Bachelor of Education degree at Simon Fraser University to become a teacher.
Olivia MacNeil plays for the North Van Stars Softball Association and also participates in soccer for the Richmond United Soccer Club. Olivia is recognized for her positive attitude, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, reliability, strong work ethic, and leadership skills. She is always cheering for her teammates. Olivia will be attending Western University in Ontario to pursue a degree in Sports Media. Unfortunately, she was unable to attend the scholarship ceremony because she was in Kamloops for her Provincial Soccer Tournament.
